Sterling Accreditation Scheme Manager and Managing Director, Simon Barnes has retired from the business after 7 years at the helm. Simon started the company after leaving central government where he was responsible for the implementation of the European Directive on the Energy Performance of Buildings within England & Wales.
Simon said “I have enjoyed the challenges of running an accreditation scheme which operates in a very dynamic market being subject to many changes, including government policy, technology and sustainability strategies. I am looking forward to having more time to concentrate on my love for the countryside and supporting the Surrey County Agricultural Society.”
Mike Gordon who has been with the business almost from the start, will take over as Scheme Manager and will be responsible for the day to day operation of the company. Mike said “Simon has done a great job over the years steering the company through the ups and downs of the energy assessor market. He has been pivotal in creating one of the country’s leading accreditation schemes, especially in the air conditioning sector where it commands 75% of the market. I thank him for all his achievements and wish him well in his retirement.”
The company recognises that Simon Barnes has a wealth of knowledge and expertise and is therefore pleased that Simon has agreed to continue as an advisor to Sterling in the future.
